Meredith
Supports Hess for Re-Election
March
7, 2006
Judge
Pat Hess has named retired judge Jennings B. Meredith as treasurer
of her re-election committee. Meredith
held the positions of Juvenile, General Sessions and Trial Justice
Judge from 1977 until his retirement in 1998.
In
making the announcement, Hess said, “I am honored that Jennings
has accepted this role
in my re-election. I
have known him for 22 years. I
first met him when I was a lawyer at Ridenour and Ridenour. Judge
Meredith wanted to begin a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)
Program, and I was one of the attorneys he selected to establish
that organization. Since that time, Jennings has been my boss, a
fellow judge, a mentor
and a friend.
Both before and after his retirement, Judge Meredith has
worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children and families.
I am pleased to have Jennings’ support.”
Meredith,
accepting the position of treasurer, said, “Judge Hess’ proven
record of working hard for children and families means children
remain first rather than others’ political ambitions or hidden
agendas. That is why I
give Judge Hess my whole-hearted support.
She has spent 18 years on the bench and as one of the
strongest voices for our children, youth and families.”
“As
a judge, Pat treats all persons before her respectfully and fairly,
with the right balance of compassion and accountability.
She runs an efficient and effective courtroom and Juvenile
Services operations. Judge
Hess maintains an excellent working relationship with schools, law
enforcement, lawyers, agencies and non-profits serving children. Pat
also directs her energy toward developing new programs to help
children. Without
Pat’s efforts, programs such as
CASA,
the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program and Visitation Mediation
would not exist in Anderson County,”
Meredith said.
Meredith
continued, “Cases before the Juvenile Court are becoming more and
more complex as our society faces tough issues such as the
prevalence of methamphetamine and the continued breakdown of the
family. It takes the
specialized, working knowledge of Juvenile Law and the juvenile
system that only Judge Hess possesses to tackle those issues and to
make the best decisions for children and youth.
Anderson County citizens need to keep Pat in office for as
long as she will agree to serve.
I invite others to join me in supporting Judge Hess.”
