The Harriman Police Department is hosting the Police K-9 Seminar from September 27 - 29, 2011 with an optional Child Sexual Abuse, Mental Illness, & E.V.O.C. course on September 26, 2011 and Firearms on September 30, 2011.
This seminar offers AWD & NNDDA certifications and is designed to enhance K-9 team proficiency at basic and advanced levels with a focus on patrol and narcotics detection. The most advanced techniques and methods in law enforcement K-9 patrol and narcotic detection will be discussed and demonstrated.
The seminar includes optional firearms, Child Sexual Abuse, Mental Illness, and E.V.O.C.
Registration will be limited to 50 K-9 teams and observers on a first-come, first served basis.

About the K-9 Seminar: Our featured instructors will be internationally renowned K-9 experts from Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana. Vohne Liche Kennels are currently one of the nation’s top trainers in narcotic detector dogs and consults over five hundred law enforcement agencies.
This school is designed to enhance K-9 team proficiency at basic and advanced levels, focusing on patrol and narcotic detection. The most advanced techniques and methods in law enforcement, K-9 Team deployment and detection will be discussed and demonstrated. Seminar content will include: Interior/exterior vehicle searches, tactical building entry/muzzle work, search patterns: advantages & disadvantages, K-9 team safety/vehicle stops, tracking/area searches/environmental factors, explosives detection, narcotic dog seizures: money/vehicles/properties, health, maintenance and first aid for the patrol and narcotic dogs, recognition of physical internal stress, problem solving: methods & distractions, patrol and narcotic dog trial testimony, enhancing response, building search, motivation, drives and character traits/control work, storage & maintenance of training aids, importance of record keeping, public relations.
