The Harriman Police Department Training Division is dedicated to developing the skills, knowledge and service delivery of sworn and civilian employees. We provide comprehensive training to ensure our citizens are provided quality, public safety services while being treated with professionalism, dignity and respect. The Training Unit provides continuous training for all employees. Training includes, but is not limited to, the following topics which are mandated by the State of Tennessee: Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Emergency Vehicle Operation, and Police Law/Legal Update. Practical training is also required in topics such as First Aid, Baton, Taser and Patrol Procedures, and a variety of other training topics to address the ever-changing trends in Law Enforcement. All officers are required to maintain 40 hours of training every year as mandated by the Tennessee Police Officers Standards and Training Commission (P.O.S.T.) The Training Division is responsible for all in-service training sessions presented for the police department. Assistant Chief Kenneth Humphrey is the Training Division supervisor.
